norville maximillion pontias bach

name Norville Maximillion Pontias Bach
age 27
occupation drifter/busking the streets
home Walter's home!
zodiac Scorpio: determined and forceful, emotional and intuitive. Powerful and passionate, exciting, magnetic. Jealous and resentful, compulsive/obsessive, secretive and obstinate.
the basics Norville is, by the best definition possible, a creature. Not to say he isn't intelligent, because he is. He grew up a Bach, and though he got terrible grades, that wasn't a very good judge of his intelligence, either. It's not like he went to much school after the age of fifteen. Norville is what some doctors would call 'an almost genius'. He showed all the signs in early childhood. His abilities always exceeded those in his own age group. But Norville is Norville, born upside down and much too early. His behavior problems always seemed to outweigh his interest in anything scholarly. His pursuits in youth were as follows: learning to hotwire almost anything with an engine. Learning to pickpocket, fight with a knife, cheat at poker (at age six), fix a fight and run a pretty damn good con. In his defense though he (almost absentmindedly, over the years) learned six different languages, three instruments, and grew proficient in math-- the kind of math that looks like Chinese to about ninety percent of the population. Math, Norville was known to say, quits the racket 'tween your ears.

Norville has a sort of low cunning that lead him down the darker paths where his brothers never went. He hung with low people at school (or rather, during school, and obviously not attending) and when he got out of school he worked for them. But it wasn't long before that was turned on it's ear and they were working for him. Norville has a good head for strategy and numbers, but almost every single one of his skills is instinctual. He just has a better instinct than most. Norville treats people like open books. Books are easy to read. So are people. In a moment he can figure out how to fool you just by shaking your hand. Unfortunately, running with such bad people has gotten him into some pretty terrible situations. Which happens if you happen to run with mobs, gangs, smugglers, con men, and thieves.

Despite all of his bad choices (and time in jail) Norville has maintained a deep heart. He is passionate, loving, and fiercely protective of those he loves. He adores children and animals with a bemused and childlike tenderness. He has secrets in his life, some dark ones, but none he is ashamed of. He has a firm sense of justice.

history
Norville Maximillion Pontias Bach was the third Bach boy born into the prestigious Bach family. He was born three weeks too early, he breached, became tangled in his own umbilical cord, and very nearly died. The doctor cut him out as quickly as possible, but for more than a minute and a half the newly born Norville didn't breathe, even with the best nurses and doctors doing everything they could to make him. And then, as if he suddenly decided to himself, Norville's heart gave a tiny jump, he took a breath, and screamed at all of them. From then on, he was always the most willful, devious, charming, disobedient child.

He skated through elementary school with only a few scrapes-- he was a bully from now and again and a couple times a little 'teasing' would get slightly out of hand --but by the time he hit junior high he was smoking (only cigarettes, the pot and the meth [Walter shudders] came later) and stealing on a grand level. By the time he was half way through high school he had been to juvie twice, for possession of an illegal substance and for petty theft. When he turned seventeen and met Donnie Gialdini and decided working for Mister Gialdini (Donnie's pa) definitely paid better than school. He dropped out, much to the dismay of his mother and brothers, and to the wrath of his father.

Norville moved away from home and then so began his globe-trotting years. He always kept in touch with his brothers (well...almost always) but they rarely knew where he was and he rarely felt the need to tell them. Safer, anywhoo. He started doing meth about the same time Donnie became his closest companion. At first they were just doing it. After awhile, they were selling it. Soon enough, they were selling it on a pretty impressive scale. Norville was the books and the brains. Donnie was the connector and the spider, the one who knew the web and the other spiders prowling around on it.

Donnie had been using for quite a bit longer than Noville. He also wasn't too smart, though his street-smarts almost made up for it. Either way, he made a few terrible decisions that got him into some terrible trouble. He began to skim money from Norville, from their profit that they made together. Though Norvy ran the books, Donnie ran the guys that made the deliveries. And the payments. Guys who were family, or easily bought. But even with all that, only six months went by before Norville suspected anything was wrong.

When he found out, he was hurt and completely furious. When Norvy loves you, he truly loves to the bottom of his very being. But once betrayed, there is really no anger stronger. Norville grabbed his bat and his keys. Norville tracked him down, and began to go to town to Donnie's Porsche. Donnie foolishly tried to stop him, and Norville dropped the bat to go after him (he would never fight an unarmed man with a bat, no way). Two of Donnie's cousins (the stereotypical big cousins with receding hair lines and biceps big enough to crush a man's skull under a cheap three-piece suit) had to drag him off of the poor boy. Donnie lost three teeth that day. He suffered a broken nose, three broken ribs, a mild concussion, and was the recipient of several very disgusting loogies.

The two brawny cousins hauled Norville off and proceeded to beat the living hell out of him. They left him on the sidewalk with his own formidable injury list: three broken fingers, a broken nose, a shattered cheek bone, and a dislocated shoulder. Luckily, he said to the medic who picked him up off of the street when a Good Samaritan had called 911, luckily, I still have all my teeth.

While he was in the hospital, he detoxed. His family came to see him, mostly Greg and Walter and Baird (oddly enough, Baird was there first and the most until Norvy could leave the wretched place). He told them he had been in a motorcycle accident. His brothers knew he wasn't telling the truth. But he waited to tell them until later. Probably the best idea he had at that point in his life.
